The Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC) and Global Digital Finance (GDF) – the major industry associations for blockchain technology and adoption of digital assets – are to merge, creating a single association of nearly 500 institutional members.

The new group will be named GBBC Digital Finance, and will be the world’s largest industry association of blockchain technology and digital assets, according to the announcement.

GBBC Digital Finance will be based in the U.K. and have teams across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asia Pacific (APAC).

The aim of the merger will be to spur adoption of crypto and digital assets by institutional entities through the alignment of GDF’s efforts with the GBBC’s lobbying for blockchain technology.
