Paul Grewal, chief legal officer of cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, said the exchange’s newsletter “does not provide the full picture of the meme’s history.”
Coinbase’s chief legal officer recently apologized in a newsletter for mentioning that some groups view Pepe the Frog as a symbol of hatred for extremist groups.
Coinbase Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal said in a tweet:
“We messed up and we’re sorry. Yesterday we shared the PEPE memecoin overview to provide a factual picture of a trending topic.
We screwed up and we are sorry.
Yesterday we shared an overview of the $pepe meme coin to provide a fact-based picture of a trending topic. This did not provide the whole picture of the history of the meme and we apologize to the community.
