The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu made statements about the metaverse.
“Turkey Technology Meetings” was hosted by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB). The main topic of the event is “Digital Works”. At the event, topics such as e-commerce, e-export, digitalization, metaverse, NFT, blockchain were discussed. Hisarcıklıoğlu said:
“Our new digital universe is now Metaverse. What we call Metaverse is not just about virtual reality and glasses. Now retailers are selling by opening virtual stores. It organizes events in the Metaverse universe. Dangerous professions are taught in virtual reality. However, for Metaverse to be truly an economy, we need to integrate it into payment infrastructures. This can only be possible with the infrastructure of the blockchain. Blockchain applications entered our lives with Bitcoin. Then many other cryptoassets emerged. But smart contracts are made with these crypto assets. In the simplest terms, the infrastructure of problems such as providing guarantees in exports is maintained. According to the data of the IMF, Turkey is the country that trades most on crypto exchanges in the world. However, we do not use this platform to generate work. Unfortunately, our blockchain initiative is very small. In other words, we are consumers of these technologies, not producers. We need to focus more on the production part of this technology. Metaverse is no longer a magazine issue, it should become one of the basic elements of our economy.”
