Is the StarCraft legend returning? The endless war between 3 races…

One of the most famous productions of Blizzard Entertainment, the creator of many legendary games such as Diablo and Warcraft, is the StarCraft series. This game series, which is about the wars between humans and races in space in the future, has been played by millions of people for years. The game has a large fan base, especially in Asian countries such as South Korea. There are even international tournaments with large sums of money and cryptocurrencies. StarCraft caused the players not to get up from the computer in a way that endangered their lives. Now, according to a claim circulating on social media, work has already begun for StarCraft 3, the new game of the series.

StarCraft’s first game was created by renowned game designers Chris Metzen and James Phinney. The game, which started to be developed in 1995, was released in 1998 under the label of Blizzard Entertainment. StarCraft was designed with the engine of Warcraft 2, one of the successful productions of that period.

The game was first released in 1998.

HOW IS THE STARCRAFT STORY?

The game has a fictional story set in the 26th century. The Xel’naga tribe, a very advanced race from outside the Milky Way Galaxy, creates the Zerg race with an insect-like structure and the Protoss, a highly developed race, as a result of their experiments and genetic mutations. But the Xel’nagas are going extinct. On the other hand, the population of people gathered under a single confederation and called ‘Terrans’ in the game is increasing. As a remedy to this extraordinary increase, the human race is sending ships to different parts of space to establish colonies in various parts of the Milky Way Galaxy. As a result of the malfunctioning of the main computers of the human spaceships, these ships accidentally enter the Koprulu Sector in the galaxy inhabited by Zerg and Protoss. And so a great war begins between these three races.

StarCraft is a real-time strategy game just like Age of Empires and Warcraft. By choosing one of these 3 races, the missions given in the light of the game’s story are completed in the ‘campaign’ mode, or it can be played against other players with the multiplayer option. When a race is selected, the game starts with the main building and workers belonging to that race. Minerals and ‘vespene’ gas are collected with workers to produce new workers, buildings, soldiers and combat vehicles. The game continues until the opposing race is defeated or the mission is completed.

EACH BREED HAS CERTAIN CHARACTERISTICS

In StarCraft, each race has certain merits and superiority to each other. For example, Protoss, who are quite advanced in technology and are larger and stronger in size than others, take longer to produce than other races and cost more than other races. Aiming for numerical superiority, the Zerg breed both reproduces quickly and has low costs compared to others. Humans, on the other hand, stand in balance according to the two races. Each race has special units and powers, special combat vehicles and characters. The story revolves around the main characters such as Sarah Kerrigan, Jim Raynor, Zeratul and Artanis.

The graphics in Starcraft 2 are more advanced than the first.

Brood War, the expanded set of the game, was released right after StarCraft. Brood War included additional missions, characters, units and maps that were not in StarCraft’s first game.

When it came to 2003, it was announced that the work for the second game of StarCraft had begun. However, it took a long time for the game to come to light. It finally came out in 2010 as StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty. The game attracted so much attention that it sold over 1 million copies on the first day. The story of the game, which has much better graphics than the first, is based only on the Terrans story, not the three races. Heart of the Swarm, released in 2013, focuses on Zerg, and Legacy of the Void, released in 2015, focuses on Protos.

EXCITING DEVELOPMENT FOR THE THIRD GAME

Now the fans of the game are waiting for the third game of the series. However, there was a development that made the fans very excited. Journalist Jezz Corden responded on Twitter, “It won’t be necessary,” when asked if a user would revive the StarCraft franchise if Microsoft bought Blizzard’s parent company, Activision Blizzard. Corden thus hinted that Blizzard started working on StarCraft 3 without waiting for Microsoft. A second user then asked if this meant that StarCraft 3 was being worked on and if Corden knew any details about the game. The Windows Central reporter answered in the affirmative to both questions. However, to date, the producer company has not made any official statements about StarCraft 3.
