Big punishment to the co-founders of Tornado Cash!

While Roman Storm, the co-founder of Tornado Cash, was arrested, it was stated that the assets of the other partner Roman Semenov will also be blocked.

Tornado Cash’s battle with the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) continues. OFAC announced in a recent announcement that Roman Storm was arrested and Roman Semenov’s assets would be blocked and even banned from doing business with US individuals.

Harsh statements from authorities to Tornado Cash

OFAC announced in a statement that Semenov has been added to the list of Specially Designated Nationals of sanctioned companies and individuals. Meanwhile, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) has charged Storm and Semenov with conspiracy to launder money, violating sanctions and running an unlicensed money transfer business.

According to the DOJ, OFAC said the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Internal Revenue Service arrested Storm on Wednesday, but Semenov is still on the run. OFAC said in its announcement that since its inception, Tornado Cash has been used to transfer funds, including to hide hundreds of millions of dollars in virtual currency stolen by hackers.
