There has been a new development in BNB Chain, the blockchain network connected to the Binance exchange. BNB Chain developers have launched the mainnet of opBNB, the layer-2 network they are working on to solve the application scaling problem.
The mainnet, which is open to the public after long-term testing, will pave the way for innovative moves in the cryptocurrency industry. BNB Chain developers stated that they have conducted extensive experiments to ensure the security of the opBNB network.
As its name suggests, the layer-2 network opBNB is connected to Optimism. The cryptocurrency network, which works on scaling problems, was developed thanks to the OP Stack package from Optimism. The aim of the project is to enable ETH-based decentralized applications (dApps) to operate on other chains. Developers have worked to increase transaction speeds while reducing dAapp fees.
The opBNB network, which started closed testing in June, operated with limited participation in August. The Layer-2 initiative started operating publicly today.
BNB Chain official Arno Bauer said the following about the project:
“Scalability and security have been our top priorities for opBNB. “We worked intensively on these issues before the public mainnet launch.”
