Trump Jr. Envisions Crypto as Key to American Dominance
Donald Trump Jr. expressed his strong belief that cryptocurrency represents the future of American economic leadership during a recent discussion at the Ondo Summit held in New York City. He stated, “I think it’s perhaps the future of American hegemony, in terms of our economic status, our economic might.”
The son of the former U.S. president surprised attendees with his presence at the event, following the news that World Liberty Financial (WLF), a crypto project with ties to the Trump family, had acquired Ondo’s native cryptocurrency, ONDO, earlier that day. Trump Jr. emphasized the need for a balanced regulatory framework, saying, “We do have to create that framework in which [crypto], which I believe to be the future of finance, can thrive. It’s crucial that we avoid over-regulation by individuals who may not fully understand the technology, as that could undermine the very essence of what cryptocurrency stands for.”
Chase Herro, co-founder of World Liberty Financial, echoed these sentiments, announcing plans for the protocol to introduce a “strategic reserve” of cryptocurrency assets. He remarked, “We are big fans of building and innovating.”
In recent months, WLF has gained attention for its investments in various digital tokens, including Ethereum (ETH), wrapped Bitcoin (BTC), Tron’s TRX, AAVE, and Chainlink’s LINK, among others. Notably, World Liberty Financial purchased approximately $470,000 worth of ONDO tokens earlier today, shortly after Ondo Finance announced its ambitious plans to launch Ondo Chain, a layer-1 blockchain specifically designed for tokenized assets.
Meanwhile, during U.S. morning hours, Trump’s social media company revealed its intentions to introduce a series of exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Among these, one would aim to track the price of Bitcoin (BTC) and is set to be named the Truth.Fi Bitcoin Plus ETF.
