CoreWeave to Acquire Weights & Biases for $1.7 Billion
In a strategic move to enhance its infrastructure capabilities within the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence (AI) landscape, cloud computing company CoreWeave has announced plans to acquire the AI developer platform Weights & Biases. This significant deal, valued at $1.7 billion, is projected to finalize in the first half of 2025, according to a report by The Information.
Weights & Biases, which achieved a valuation of $1.25 billion in 2023, has established itself as an indispensable tool within the AI development community. Its suite of tools is widely utilized by researchers and engineers to effectively manage and streamline complex machine learning workflows.
By acquiring Weights & Biases, CoreWeave aims to seamlessly integrate its robust cloud computing services with the innovative tools offered by Weights & Biases, thereby providing AI developers with a more cohesive and efficient experience.
This acquisition announcement closely follows CoreWeave’s recent filing for an initial public offering (IPO) on Tuesday, where the company is anticipated to raise around $4 billion and achieve a valuation exceeding $35 billion. Additionally, CoreWeave has engaged with bitcoin miner Core Scientific (CORZ) to develop an impressive 500 megawatts (MW) of infrastructure dedicated to AI-related initiatives.
