Itaú Unibanco, one of Brazil’s largest banks, plans to launch its tokenization platform.
Itaú Unibanco has started work on launching a tokenization platform that converts traditional financial products into tokens and also provides crypto custody services for its clients.
The new unit, which is planned to be named Itaú Digital Assets, will be opened for corporate customers and will also serve individual customers until the end of the year.
At the press conference, the company stated that they are also considering offering crypto currency trading services to their individual customers in the future.
The company also announced that Vanessa Fernandez, who is experienced in technology at the bank, will become president of Itaú Digital Assets.
Itaú Unibanco was among nine companies selected by the Brazilian Central Bank to help develop the digital currency.
