Kaiko ranks the best Bitcoin exchanges
Crypto data provider Kaiko has released a new report titled “Cryptocurrency Exchange Rankings for Q2 2022,” which ranks Coinbase Global as the best crypto exchange in the world. Coinbase was the only exchange to receive triple AAA ratings, followed by Binance and Kraken at points 2 and 3 respectively. Kaiko ranks exchanges on a weighted combination of six criteria:
- Management
- Business
- Technology
- data quality
- Security
- Liquidity
Management score gets the highest weight (30 percent) in the compound. Coinbase, which went public last year, has a Kaiko Score of 96, followed by Binance and Kraken with 86 points. #4 and #5 belong to FTX US and Gemini with 84 and 83 points, respectively. Compared to the previous ranking released in mid-January, FTX, Binance and Huobi saw the biggest ranking improvements supported by management efforts. Kaiko’s statement includes the following statements:
The pinnacle of our leadership is still held by Coinbase, whose Kaiko Exchange Score is up 2 points to 93, followed by Binance and Kraken, both at 86.
Binance and FTX failed to make it to the previous list

Among the rated exchanges, Coinbase and Binance have the most liquidity, while Itbit and Huobi have the least among the top ten. San Francisco-based Coinbase remains at the top of the leadership board and remains the only exchange with a “Triple Kaiko Exchange Rating”. This means that the exchange records a high overall score and individual scores that are above the defined threshold.
Kaiko’s AA-rated group, previously made up of Kraken, Gemini, and Bitstamp, has welcomed five new members, including Binance, FTX.US, CEX.IO, FTX and BitBank. While Coinbase, Binance and Kraken are the only 3 exchanges with a security score of 100, Bitstamp is the only exchange with a score of 100 in the governance category. Coinbase, FTX US, Gemini, and Itbit each had a management score of 98. Some of the worst ranked exchanges were SouthXchange, Bibox, and Yobit. SouthXchange has only 36 Kaiko Exchange Points, while the other two have 42 points. The list consists of a total of 46 exchanges.
