Bitcoin, not ETH: Tezos adopted
In a recent announcement, three United Nations organizations were the last to adopt the Tezos e-voting solution. YOUNGO, the official child and youth voter of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), was the first UN agency to adopt the Tezos e-voting solution. The organization consists of a network of children under 35 and other youth NGOs committed to making sure that the voices of young people are heard by the UNFCCC.
Another United Nations agency adopting the Tezos electronic voting solution was the SDG7 Youth Constituency. The organization was launched to enable young people around the world to make their voices heard in the energy sector. It is noteworthy that SDG7 is among the 17 Sustainable Development Goals created by the United Nations in 2015. Tezos’ e-voting solution has contributed positively to SDG7’s business. Electics solution gained widespread acceptance
Finally, the Electis voting solution was also evaluated by the Women and Gender Constituency (WGC). The organization consists of 28 NGOs focused on ensuring that the voices of women who are demanded for the realization of their rights and priorities are heard. The adoption of Tezos’ Electis by these UN agencies shows that the number of institutions relying on Blockchain is increasing.
In September 2021, French authorities used Electis as an e-voting program in a move that would see the solution used in local elections. Similarly, Electis has also been tested and adopted at 80 tertiary institutions in Japan, including Ritsumeikan University and Kings College London. Electis is a voting solution that provides an encrypted and anonymous electronic voting system based on the Tezos Blockchain.
What is Tezos?
So, what is Tezos? Tezos is a Blockchain network based on smart contracts, not much different from Ethereum. However, Tezos aims to offer a more advanced infrastructure. That is, it aims to evolve over time without the danger of a hard fork. XTZ owners can vote on protocol upgrade proposals put forward by Tezos developers. This open-source platform describes itself as “secure, upgradeable and built to last.”
