Ethereum Foundation Sets Possible Dates for Merge

The Ethereum Foundation is discussing potential dates for the Merge upgrade.

Merge will migrate from Ethereum’s proof-of-work algorithm to the proof-of-stake algorithm. The upgrade is split into two parts, Bellatrix and Paris. In the second part, the merger will take place completely.

Ethereum Foundation Sets Date for Merge

During the Consensus Layer Call, core developers discussed which dates could be set, and a consensus was reached “for now” for the two major upgrades. The Bellatrix upgrade is scheduled for September 6, and the Paris upgrade is scheduled for September 15.

It should be noted that these dates are not exact. Changes may be made in the coming days. Dates may also change as a result of block times and potential fluctuations in hash rate.

Lowering the Ethereum hash rate results in slower block times, which in turn increases the time required for Merge. This may result in the upgrade being invalid.

Ethereum Merge Affects Price

The Merge upgrade, which will enable Ethereum to transition to the proof-of-stake algorithm, also affects the price of the asset. The asset has increased by 16.9% in the last seven days.

Ethereum is trading at $1,895 at the time of writing, according to CoinGecko data.
