Popular science fiction author Neal Stephenson, who coined the word “metaverse” for the first time in his 1992 book “Snowcrash,” received his first NFT.
The popular author received a work inspired by nature by artist Sterling Crispin. In a statement after the sale, the artist said that he was proud that his works attracted Stephenson’s attention. Crispin stated that he will donate 25 percent of the 1850 dollars from this sale to the Santa Cruz Natural Animal Protection unit in the state of California.
Stephenson told Vice:
“I came across Sterling Crispin’s work while contemplating a productive art project I was collaborating on. As an artist, I like it when artists get paid. That’s why I bought some of your works!”
