President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with young people from different cities at the Presidential National Library on the occasion of the 19 May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, and various topics were discussed at the meeting. As it will be remembered, Erdogan met with Elon Musk, an important figure in the crypto market, and this was interpreted as he was keen on cryptocurrencies. From this point of view, Erdogan was also asked about his opinion on cryptocurrencies and his meeting with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Erdogan stated that they discussed the issue with Elon Musk about the spacecraft they will send into space and said, “We have reached a place where we can act jointly on that issue.”
Stating that the regulatory work on cryptocurrencies continues, Erdogan said, “Our friends are continuing their work on cryptocurrencies.” Erdoğan continued his speech in the following direction:
We will discuss this in the parliament and take our steps accordingly. Honestly, if you ask my opinion, I do not favor the crypto money issue. After our friends have done their work, we will take our steps. In other words, I believe that it is not right to take steps with such tools that will make someone rich and someone poor.
