New Decisions from BRSA and TBB for Earthquake Zone

After the earthquakes that took place in Kahramanmaraş and felt in the surrounding provinces, BDKK and TBB announced their new decisions.

After the earthquake, the epicenter of which was Kahramanmaraş and felt in 10 provinces, aid continues to come from many sectors. The Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) and the Banks Association of Turkey (TBB) were added to the institutions that took new decisions about earthquake zones. TBB Published Its Decisions for Earthquake Zones

After the Kahramanmaraş earthquake, aid decisions continue to come from many sectors. TBB, with its statements, published its decisions about all regions affected by the earthquake. As a result of the meeting he held on February 6, he mentioned that the problems experienced in the earthquake area will be reduced and that banking services will be provided uninterruptedly. In the light of these plans made to help earthquake victims, the decisions to be implemented were determined.

According to the decisions taken as a result of the meeting, TBB;

Postponing the 6-month period of the debts of the bank customers that will be due in 6 months. No commissions are charged for transactions to be made from partner ATMs. Creation of opportunities to assist bank customers. Informing and making arrangements by the Risk Center for loan payment, credit risk, check and promissory notes transactions of customers residing in the Risk Center Members or having an account at the branch.

In addition, TBB stated that 352 trucks/vans and 48 containers of aid materials delivered to the earthquake area were taken to the regions by banks. He added that the aid sent will be transferred to the necessary regions and coordinations as needed.

Another aid provided for earthquake zones was the establishment of a sharing network for the banking sector. Thanks to this network, banks started to create the necessary support among themselves. In the light of these events, the sector continues to fulfill employee requests for assistance.

BRSA Published Its Decisions for Earthquake Zones

Decisions continue to be taken to support earthquake victims in Kahramanmaraş epicenter and 10 provinces. BDKK stated that the limit of 25 thousand Turkish Liras will not be taken into account for people residing in earthquake zones. In addition, the ratio of the minimum amount in credit cards to the debt of the period was determined to be 20 percent.

The decisions taken by the BDKK are as follows;

Customers who were affected by the earthquake and whose ability to pay are deferred for a minimum of 6 months in principal and interest payments, and customer demand is not sought in case the postponement is made without demanding interest/profit share. Granting a time permit to 30.06.2023, the date of transmission of the documents required to be deposited to the bank by obtaining the approval of the CPA for the loans to be used between 01.03.2023 and 31.03.2023. The use of credit cards for which the minimum payment amount has not been made will not be canceled for people in earthquake zones, and you can make grace periods without demanding your receivables, including the minimum amount, during the time they postpone their card debts. Determining the aid limit of 2,000 Turkish Liras for earthquake victims as 5,000 Turkish Liras. Leaving the banks to provide additional documents that are difficult to obtain from loan customers. Postponing the review of commercial and residential real estate values ​​seen as collateral by banks. Extension of the documents that must be submitted to the bank in an approved manner by certified public accountants (YMM) licensed in accordance with the Law on Accountants, Financial Advisors and Sworn-in Certified Public Accountants until 31.03.2023. In case the principal and interest payments of consumer and vehicle loans extended by banks and companies are postponed at the request of the customers, the postponement periodwill not be taken into account within the specified maturity limits.
