The Layer 2 network announced that the remaining funds from the airdrop event will be distributed to eligible addresses that did not request it.
Optimism, the Ethereum layer-2 network, released a statement regarding the remaining funds from its first airdrop. In the statement, it was noted that the remaining tokens will be transferred to addresses that do not request airdrop and meet the appropriate conditions.
The airdrop, which was launched on June 1, 2022, resulted in the distribution of 166 million of the 215 million tokens allocated for the event, according to blockchain data. Since approximately a quarter of the airdrop-eligible addresses have not requested any airdrop, they will receive their tokens directly today.
Optimism announced that it would distribute 19% of the initial token supply as an airdrop. The protocol holds 13.73% of the initial supply.
Optimism has not announced a third airdrop yet.
In terms of TVL, Optimism stands out as the second largest layer-2 network on Ethereum, according to data from The Block.
