Alameda Research Loses $1 Million Due to Liquidations

According to crypto firm Arkham, Alameda Research lost over $1 million in assets due to liquidations last night.

The account initially held 20 million USDC, $4 million DAI and 9,000 ETH worth $10.8 million as collateral.

However, according to Arkham’s report, the balance of the account was forcibly reduced and 731 ETH was liquidated. That equates to just over a million dollars.

The report included the following statements:

“Surprisingly, transactions from the wallet before and during the liquidation show that the person controlling the wallet either does not understand how to close positions or is simply unwilling.”

On January 12, after the funds were combined into a single wallet, the $72,000 Alameda fund was liquidated at AAVE. Twitter users noticed Alameda Research funds swapping wallets, and some attributed the move to Alameda founder SBF. However, the SBF denied these allegations.
