Argentine Authorities Raid Miners

Argentina’s Tax Collection Agency (AFIP) has announced that it has raided businesses that illegally mine cryptocurrencies.

AFIP’s first foray made into an agricultural producer that houses mining equipment in the fruit-chilling division in the state of San Juan. AFIP did not share information on how much equipment was seized as a result of the raid.

AFIP also raided a crypto mining company operating in Buenos Aires. The agency found that the company was operating a mining operation on an unregistered property. In the raid, 142 equipment and 1355 graphics cards were seized.

AFIP has recently launched a third raid in the state of Cordoba. However, no details about the raid were shared.

There is currently no official registration process for crypto miners in the country and several companies operate legally in the country. In the country, miners run their mining operations in secret to avoid paying extra taxes and to take advantage of heavily subsidized residential electricity tariffs compared to industrial rates.
