Arizona State University (ASU), one of the largest public universities in the United States, plans to join the Metaverse and Web3 ecosystems. They are also considering leveraging NFTs for validation of event tickets and certificates.
A series of trademark applications to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) revealed that the university’s future proposals could include NFTs and holding conferences in virtual reality. ASU aims to publish such digital collections both at internal events and on its students’ campus. NFTs showing the university’s major sporting events are also expected to come to light. Running virtual classrooms, meetings and other projects on Metaverse is another goal set by the institute.
In a recent tweet, Josh Gerben, trademark attorney and Founder of Gerben Perrott, confirmed the rumors.
