Binance announced that it has hired Henrique Meirelles, ex-president of the Brazilian Central Bank, as an advisor.
Meirelles also served as economy minister from 2016-2018.
Binance Hires Former Central Bank Governor
Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, has included the former chairman of the Brazilian Central Bank on its advisory board.
The news was first reported by the Brazilian local newspaper O Globo. Binance also used the following statements on the subject:
Meirelles was the head of the Central Bank from 2003 to 2011, while Lula da Silva was the head of state.
Meirelles, who served as economy minister from 2016 to 2018, also attended various cryptocurrency meetings in 2017.
Meirelles could return to the ministry if Silva wins the Presidential election.
Blockchain firm Ripple recently announced that it will offer crypto services between Brazil and Mexico. The company aims to facilitate money transfers between the two countries.
