Bitcoin Core developer Luke Dashjr stated that the Ordinals and BRC20 tokens will cease to exist after the v27 update.
The sensational rise of Bitcoin (BTC) and its ringing of bull bells revealed new trends. Many crypto investors turned to PoW coins and BRC20 tokens because they thought they would become a trend.
Especially the BRC20 craze has reached a different dimension under the leadership of ORDI. ORDI reached a market value of $1 billion, dragging other BRC20 tokens after it. The BRC20 craze, which we mentioned the other day as Coinkolik, generated gains of more than 150 percent.
While the BRC20 craze continues, a surprising statement came from Bitcoin developer Luke Dashjr. The Bitcoin developer stated that the BRC20 and Ordinals era will end.
Bitcoin developer: There is a gap for Bitcoin and this gap will be closed
While the BRC20 craze continues at full speed, the statement from a Bitcoin developer created a bombshell effect on the agenda. Bitcoin Core developer Luke Dashjr stated that Inscriptions (inscriptions on the Bitcoin network) that enable the creation of Ordinals and BRC20 tokens are open. Dashjr said that with the v27 update, this gap will be closed and the Ordinals and BRC20 era will end.
Making a statement during the day, Dashjr stated that the v27 update, which will fix the Inscriptions vulnerability, will be released next year. The crypto community is criticizing this decision made by Bitcoin developers.
Bitcoin developer Dashjr explained that since 2013, Bitcoin Core has allowed users to set limits on the size of extra data in transactions via the “-datacarriersize” setting. According to Dashjr, Inscriptions found a way to bypass this limit by disguising its data as program code. Therefore, developers see the Bitcoin trend as a vulnerability.
Criticizing Bitcoin developers, the crypto community asked whether there would be mining losses if BRC20s ended. The developer stated that Bitcoin miners work honestly and therefore the fee for spam-filtered blocks is higher.
