UK Financial Conduct Authority Lists Bitstamp as Registered Exchange

Bitstamp has been included in the list of registered crypto firms by the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The FCA announced that it has listed 42 registered crypto firms in compliance with its Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing rules.

With the UK arm of Bitstamp joining the FCA’s list of registered firms, they, along with Interactive Brokers Limited, became the first companies registered in the UK six months later. FCA previously registered Hidden Road Partners and MoonPay in December 2022.

In the UK, firms that are allowed to operate cryptoassets must be registered with the FCA or have a temporary status. The FCA has listed 42 registered crypto firms in compliance with Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing requirements.

Previously, the FCA had ordered Binance Markets Limited to cease its UK operations and issued “close or face another action” orders to local crypto ATM operators. This demonstrates that the FCA is taking steps to regulate and comply with crypto-asset activities.
