6 this year ‘ The Congress of the Turkish Capital Markets Association, which was held for the first time, was held with the theme of “Beyond Finance: Investing in the Future of the World” with both physical and online participation. It was quite remarkable that the promotional poster of the congress featured a green earth emphasis and a child wearing VR glasses.
The speeches were grouped under three headings: “The Future of Sustainable Finance”, “The Future of Digital Finance”, and “The Future of the Economy and Capital Markets”. A total of 15 panels were held, with 5 panels under each heading. In addition to the panels, 15 different trainings were held for university students and investors.
A mobile application was developed to show the program flow to the physical participants of the congress. At the opening of the application, the carbon footprint was measured by meeting the participants with a questionnaire about which means of transportation they would use to the congress center. Online participants are also not forgotten. There was also a section on the website that allowed them to use the stand areas so that the participants could see the sponsors and fill out the form.
After the written message of Congress President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister of Treasury and Finance Dr. It started with the opening speeches of Nureddin Nebati.
İbrahim Ömer Gönül, Chairman of the Capital Markets Board, drew attention in his opening speech by saying, “We closely follow the developments of concepts such as blockchain technologies, cryptocurrencies and fintech.”
The part that made us the happiest of this congress, which brought together the main actors of finance, was literally blowing the wind of Blockchain. Unlike previous years, this year, concepts such as web3, Blockchain and cryptocurrencies were discussed in abundance both in the speeches on the main stage and in the training workshops.
Alex Tapscott, co-founder of the Blockchain Research Institute and author of the book “Blockchain Revolution”, is the first speaker of the main stage. I will not ask in the universe,” he said. He demanded that VR glasses be brought to the stage. Thus, the audience watched the Metaverse experience from the screens.
While the integration process of blockchain technology into capital markets was discussed in other blockchain-themed panels, questions about the regulations of cryptocurrencies, which are on the agenda of many states, and the place of Metaverse and NFTs in the future of capital markets, were tried to be answered.
In the training workshop, participants experienced creating their own NFTs and learned how to transition from Web 2 business to Web 3.
We will all be happy to see more of the well-known faces of the ecosystem next year at the Turkish Capital Markets Congress, which prefers to be on the side of innovation rather than against it and blends traditional markets with Blockchain technology.
