B3 to Enhance Cryptocurrency Offerings with New Options and Futures
The Brazilian stock exchange, B3, is poised to broaden its cryptocurrency product lineup by introducing options for bitcoin (BTC) and futures contracts for both ether (ETH) and solana (SOL). This exciting development is expected to roll out later this year, as announced by the exchange’s CEO, Gilson Finkelsztain, in an interview with local media.
Since the launch of bitcoin futures contracts in April of the previous year, B3 has experienced a robust trading environment, with an impressive monthly trading volume reaching approximately R$5 billion (around $860 million), according to reports from Valor Investe, a local news outlet.
In comparison, traditional cryptocurrency exchanges in Brazil reported a total trading volume of R$6.66 billion (about $1.13 billion) in January alone, as highlighted by the Brazilian cryptocurrency market monitor, Biscoint.
B3 stands as Brazil’s principal stock exchange, where a diverse array of cryptocurrency exchange-traded products is available alongside equities, bonds, and other financial instruments. This expansion reflects B3’s commitment to integrating digital assets into mainstream finance.
