Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong Makes Clarifications About SEC

The SEC announced today that it is suing Coinbase. The SEC filed a lawsuit against Binance and CEO Changpeng Zhao yesterday. After all these developments, a lawsuit was filed against Coinbase. However, CEO Brian Armstrong made statements on his Twitter account.

CEO Brian Armstrong said on Twitter:

Regarding the SEC’s complaint against us today, we are proud to represent the industry in court to finally get some clarity on crypto rules.
Remember:
1. The SEC has reviewed our work and operations as Coinbase and allowed us to become a public company in 2021.
2. There is no way to “go in and sign up”. For this reason, we do not list securities. We reject the vast majority of the assets we examine.
3. The SEC and the CFTC have made contradictory statements and do not even agree on what is a security and what is a commodity.
4. That’s why the US congress is enacting new laws to remedy the situation and the rest of the world is taking action to set clear rules to support this technology.

These statements of CEO Armstrong were carefully followed by the crypto world.
