Copper Enhances Leadership with New Chief Compliance Officer
Crypto custody firm Copper has announced the appointment of Tammy Weinrib as its new Chief Compliance Officer and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) officer for the Americas, according to a press release issued on Monday.
In her new role, Weinrib will spearhead the firm’s licensing initiatives within the U.S. market and will be an integral member of Copper’s executive team, operating out of New York City. Her hiring is a strategic move as Copper seeks to expand its footprint in the United States. This follows the recent appointment of Amar Kuchinad as the global CEO in October of the previous year.
Weinrib brings a wealth of experience to Copper, having previously served as the Chief Compliance Officer and BSA officer at Binance.US. Before her tenure at Binance, she was associated with the crypto exchange Gemini. Her background in traditional finance is notable, having held positions at prominent institutions such as Wall Street bank Citi, The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), and Standard Chartered (STAN).
Amar Kuchinad, the global CEO of Copper, expressed enthusiasm about Weinrib’s appointment, stating, “Her appointment marks an important step forward as we accelerate our growth strategy and expand our offering to traditional finance.”
In a related development, Copper revealed in December that it had decided to withdraw its application for registration with the U.K.’s financial services regulator. This strategic decision reflects the company’s shift in focus towards markets such as the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East.
