Crypto Overview of the 2024 Elections from Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong thinks that the 2024 US presidential election could play an important role in crypto regulation.

Speaking at a conference in New York, Brian Armstrong noted that a lawsuit filed by the SEC against Coinbase could have the potential to provide greater regulatory clarity for the industry.

Armstrong made the following statements in his statements:

“Obviously, the 2024 elections are also a factor here. Currently, anti-crypto sentiment is unpopular politically and we could potentially see changes in administration, party politics, or the SEC chairman.”

He also spoke about the SEC’s lawsuit against Binance. Armstrong:

“We’ve seen other enforcement actions take place, and I should remind you that we are working on a legal issue. Courts can bring clarity to the technical issue between commodities and securities. But other issues are different. There are criminal matters. Such as illegal trading, merging of funds, allegations that executives and CEOs are named personally. These are not a real problem for Coinbase.”

Coinbase had a lengthy dispute with the SEC earlier this year, as the regulator accused the exchange of violating securities law. Coinbase also responded by filing its own lawsuit against the SEC earlier this month.
