Wintermute Expands into the U.S. Cryptocurrency Market
Wintermute, recognized as one of the largest liquidity providers in the cryptocurrency landscape, is making significant strides by establishing a new office in New York City and launching over-the-counter (OTC) trading products tailored for the U.S. market. This strategic move reflects the company’s ambition to enhance its presence across the Atlantic.
According to CEO Evgeny Gaevoy, speaking during the Consensus Hong Kong 2025 event, Wintermute is gearing up for a “new added focus on the U.S.” He elaborated, “We are looking to expand in the U.S. with our OTC offering, and we are also aiming to enhance our derivatives offerings on the OTC side.”
The firm, which operates from its main offices in London and Singapore and boasts a workforce of over 100 talented individuals, is fueled by a sense of optimism regarding potential regulatory shifts in the U.S. under the administration of President Donald Trump. Wintermute is not alone in this pursuit; a number of other prominent cryptocurrency firms such as Blockchain.com, Circle, Kraken, Gemini, Ripple, and BitGo are also contemplating similar expansions or public share offerings.
Furthermore, Bullish Global, the parent company of CoinDesk, is reportedly considering an initial public offering (IPO) as well. Wintermute’s New York office is anticipated to open later this year, with an initial team consisting of between five and ten employees. Gaevoy confirmed that the company will not be engaging in trading activities from this new location, focusing instead on building its U.S. operations.
