European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde said that while crypto has no value, it supports the digital euro.
Speaking to the Dutch press, Lagarde said:
“I said that all crypto assets are highly speculative and very risky assets. My humble assessment is that they have no value”
Lagarde said, however, that the digital euro will be different:
“The day we have a central bank digital currency, any digital euro I will guarantee it. So the central bank will be behind this asset. I think this is quite different from these things (crypto)”
Lagerde said in an interview that he has never invested in crypto money, but his son did.
