dYdX Blocks Accounts Linked to Tornado Cash

dYdX has confirmed that it has blocked user accounts linked to Tornado Cash.

Derivatives protocol dYdX has blocked user accounts linked to Tornado Cash, following the new US sanctions. In a blog post, dYdX said that they worked with a “compliance inspector” and thus identified the accounts that received money with Tornado Cash. Tornado Cash, an Ethereum-based privacy and transaction mixing system, was on the agenda after being blacklisted by the US.

dYdX said in a blog post:

Many accounts were blocked because some of the wallet funds, even insignificant amounts, worked with Tornado Cash, which was once blacklisted by the US.

dYdX also added that some accounts were blocked by mistake, and that these users interacted with Tornado Cash indirectly, if not directly.

In addition, dYdX had the following words on the subject:

As part of our compliance policies, we have made adjustments to unban certain accounts and will continue to strive to limit flagging and track this issue going forward.
