El Salvador Opens Bitcoin Embassy in Switzerland

El Salvador has opened a Bitcoin embassy in Lugano, Switzerland.

The Embassy will work to get more countries and states to adopt Bitcoin.

El Salvador Wants to Spread Bitcoin

El Salvador signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at expanding the adoption of Bitcoin in the Swiss city of Lugano, known for its cryptocurrency adoption.

According to Milena Mayorga, El Salvador’s ambassador to the US, El Salvador has also opened a Bitcoin office in the city of Lugano.

Mayorga said during the Plan B forum that the Bitcoinn office will be led by an Honorary Consul, whose mission is to defend Bitcoin across Europe.

Mayorga said:

“My Salvadoran friends and I are very excited about Bitcoin. This initiative can help increase everyone’s access to economic security and economic freedom. I can’t wait to see this”

The country became the first in the world to adopt Bitcoin as a legal currency in 2021. Although the value of the crypto asset has plummeted since then, Chairman Nayib Bukele continues to support the use of Bitcoin.

The Swiss city of Lugano has taken a similar stance by legalizing the existence of Bitcoin alongside USDT and LVGA.

Tether CTO stated that they welcome the partnership of the two countries.
