Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who has been talking about buying Twitter for a while, announced on his Twitter account that the deal will be suspended.
Musk, in a post on Twitter, shared with his followers that the Twitter deal was suspended.

Elon Musk Suspends Twitter Agreement
Elon Musk said his acquisition of Twitter is “on hold” until the social network gives more clarity on the number of fake accounts.
Musk said via Twitter account , “Twitter deal is temporarily suspended with details supporting the calculation that spam/fake accounts do indeed represent less than 5% of users” .
linked to a Reuters report that said Twitter’s estimated false or spam accounts represent less than 5% of its daily monetized active users.
Tesla’s billionaire CEO, Musk, bid to buy Twitter for $54.20 per share last month, valuing the company at more than $40 billion.
