Tesla CEO Elon Musk has once again emerged as a supporter of the popular altcoin Dogecoin. A little less outspoken with his love for Dogecoin in recent weeks, Musk has responded to a series of tweets from McDonald’s and ultimately a question from a DOGE community member. Musk had previously tweeted about McDonald’s accepting DOGE payments. Now, he seems to be repeating that thought.
Elon Musk responds to DOGE tweet
McDonalds’ Twitter account tweeted “what did I miss” yesterday, and Binance’s Twitter account responded with “Lots of green candles”, pointing to the rise of many altcoins and Bitcoin. McDonald’s then showed its love for the crypto community once again by responding with “wagmi (we all going to make it)”, an acronym for “we all will make it” that is often used by the crypto community to build trust and encourage the community not to lose hope. Musk replied, “Oh hello lol”.
A DOGE community member then brought to mind an old tweet by Musk in January 2022 about Tesla CEO accepting McDonald’s Dogecoin as a means of payment via Twitter. The Dogecoin community member asked Musk if this offer is still valid. Musk, on the other hand, gave the answer “100%”.
Will McDonald’s Accept Dogecoin (DOGE)?
But how likely is it that McDonald’s will actually accept Dogecoin for payments? cryptocoin.com As we reported, Elon Musk made the Happy Meal offer in January 2022. At the time, the DOGE price had a strong reaction and rose by double digits. However, McDonald’s did not react seriously to accepting Dogecoin as a payment method, tweeting that “only if Tesla accepts Grimacecoin”. Interestingly, there was no coin like this back then. Instead, the opportunists created the coin in a very short time, after which the coin rose 285,000 percent.
McDonald’s has yet to respond to Musk’s tweet today. However, it seems more likely that the fast food company wants to generate free promotion and interaction with the crypto community through its tweets. Beyond the tweets, the multinational has yet to show any crypto-related aspirations. However, McDonald’s has been part of the Bitcoin and crypto community to some extent. There’s a joke among Bitcoin users about traders going to McDonald’s to work when prices drop.
McDonald’s is probably happy with free promotion. However, it is not yet clear whether Elon Musk will be able to persuade the fast food chain to accept Dogecoin as payment. If anyone can achieve this, it’s probably Elon Musk, who shares a long history with McDonald’s, as shown in the video above.
