Elon Musk has been wanting to step away from his CEO position since the day he bought Twitter. That said, Musk opened a poll early on in his Twitter acquisition, consulting the community about whether he should stay in his post. Finally, he announced in a tweet today that he had handed over his duties to someone else.
Several Tesla investors were concerned that Musk was too busy running Twitter and had to dedicate his time to running the electric vehicle company, of which he was also the CEO. However, Musk said on Twitter that the new CEO, an unnamed woman, will take office in about 6 weeks.
Excited to announce that I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in ~6 weeks!
My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO, overseeing product, software & sysops.
