Fireblocks Expands Support for Sony’s Soneium Blockchain
EMBARGO Feb 12 9 AM HK TIME – Fireblocks, a leading provider of cryptocurrency custodian technology, has announced its support for Sony’s innovative Soneium blockchain. This Ethereum layer-2 network is designed to bridge the traditional internet, often referred to as Web2, with the rapidly evolving, blockchain-based Web3.
Fireblocks boasts an impressive roster of clientele, including major financial institutions such as large banks. As the demand for safe storage solutions for digital assets grows, crypto custodians like Fireblocks play a crucial role in fostering institutional adoption of cryptocurrencies. Large capital allocators, including hedge funds and family offices, rely on these custodial services for insurance and security purposes.
The integration of Soneium, a collaborative venture between Sony and Singapore’s Startale Labs, marks a significant step forward for the provision of custody services on this emerging blockchain. Launched in January, Soneium currently has a total value locked (TVL) of approximately $33.6 million, as reported by DeFiLlama. Utilizing Optimism’s OP Stack, the blockchain is designed to support a diverse range of applications in gaming, finance, and entertainment.
