Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a possible presidential candidate in next year’s election, claimed there were people ‘wanting to get rid of crypto’. DeSantis said this week that legislation to ban central bank digital currencies (CBDC) has come a long way in the state.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said the state of Sunshine will soon take action against any central bank digital currency (CBDC) and lawmakers are moving forward with legislation that may be on their table in the “next few weeks.”
“Florida rejects the idea of a central bank digital currency (CBDC),” DeSantis said at a May 2 press conference.
Widely recognized as a possible presidential candidate in next year’s election, DeSantis has previously accused President Joe Biden of spying on technology for “surveillance and control.” The law that would ban centralized digital currencies in the state was first announced in March.
