Hack Attack on Popular Metaverse Coin: Details Released!

The popular metaverse coin project Axie Infinity (AXS) said on Wednesday that the MEE6 bot on its main server was hacked. The team said that hackers used the MEE6 bot to add permissions to a fake Jiho account and made fake announcements about a minting. MEE6 is a Discord bot that allows administrators to automatically grant, remove roles and send messages. Here are the details of the attack…

Axie Infinity claims that the announcements showing a private minting have been deleted. The Axie Infinity team also said, “Many projects with the MEE6 bot installed on their servers have faced similar issues. RTFKT, PROOF/Moonbirds, PXN, Memeland, Cool Cats and others have reported that their administrator accounts have been hacked. We have removed the Mee6 bot from the server and we will never do a surprise minting.”

The team will continue to provide users with event updates simultaneously on Twitter, Discord, Substack and Facebook. According to MEE6 official support, MEE6 was not hacked, but administrators on servers were compromised, which allowed attackers to use MEE6 features to send messages. The Axie Infinity team and community are going through tough times after the latest Ronin bridge hack, in which $625 million was stolen. The popularity of the play-to-earn game has drastically declined as many top players have left Axie Infinity.

AXS hits breaking point

According to Discord security experts, hackers are probably admin first to create a response role feature from MEE6 to give an alternate account manager hacked their accounts. Attackers using the method send webbook messages while hiding the compromised administrator account. Project Axie Infinity has been causing a negative mood lately with delays and hacks. As previously reported at Kriptokoin.com , the Axie Infinity community was disappointed with the delays in launching land sales and rewards for the game. Many players left the game as the project continued to be hacked. The price of AXS tokens also dropped from $160 to $20 in 6 months.
