Friend Tech, the new platform that everyone has been talking about recently, leaked the identity information of hundreds of thousands of people to the internet. Ethereum addresses and Twitter names are among other disclosed information.
101,000 Friend Tech users’ information leaked online
Banteg, one of the developers of Yearn Finance, has shared on GitHub a “leaked” repository containing sensitive information of users on the Friend Tech platform. This repository contains the basic addresses and corresponding Twitter usernames of over 101,000 users.
Banteg was not limited to just publishing user information. He also pointed out that there are serious problems with friend.tech’s regulations. Users claimed that Friend Tech was given the ability to post on their behalf, possibly without full understanding or permission.
“The leaked database shows that 101,183 people have access to post to Friend.tech like themselves,” the developer said. This statement came after publishing a CSV file containing detailed user data. This file contained financial resources and usernames.
The information surfaced after Spot On Chain analysts encountered a data leak issue with Friend.tech’s API. This made user-generated wallet information accessible via the API.
