President Trump said on Monday that new customs duties planned to be applied to products imported from Mexico have been suspended for a month.
The taxes, which were planned to enter into force on Tuesday, would bring 25 %additional taxes for products from Mexico and Canada and 10 %for products imported from China. However, with the postponement of this decision, recovery was observed in the crypto currency market.
Border Safety and Trade Negotiations Begin
The postponement of customs duties came after the talks of Trump and Sheinbaum. Mexico agreed to send 10,000 troops to the northern border to prevent drug trafficking on the US border.
Trump said in a statement, “Instead of putting new tariffs into force on the planned date, we will focus on negotiations for a month. In this process, Foreign Minister Marco Rubio, Treasury Minister Scott Bessent and Trade Minister Howard Lutnick will play an active role in negotiations. ”
Sheinbaum confirmed the agreement through social media, while the talks took place within the framework of friendly relations and sovereignty between the two countries. He also said that the US agreed to cooperate to prevent high -power arms entry into Mexico.
Following these developments, the recovery signals were seen in the crypto currency market, which has been declining in recent days due to trade wars.
