US district judge Lewis Kaplan expressed concern that Bankman-Fried could find ways to circumvent the restrictions and communicate secretly with others electronically.
Judge Thinks SBF Could Easily Get Away From Bail Terms
On March 10, Reuters reported that U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan expressed concern about the proposed bail conditions for Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of former FTX cryptocurrency exchange.

US district judge Lewis Kaplan, serving in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, recommended that Bankman-Fried be banned from using smartphones, tablets, computers and any video game platform or device.
Additionally, in the proposal, Kaplan said that Bankman-Fried’s communications should be limited to “a flip phone or other non-smart phone with no or disabled internet capability.”
Kaplan added that the SBF is smart enough to easily circumvent current bans. However, Bankman-Fried’s lawyer, Christian Everdell, assured the court that he would work with prosecutors on a new proposal to address the judge’s concerns.
