Marshall Wace to Hire Digital Asset Team

Hedge fund Marshall Wace has started looking for new names for its digital asset team.

According to Bloomberg’s report, the London-based firm, which manages $60 billion in assets, has recruited William Benattar for its cross-investment fund.

Benattar previously worked for Nick Candy at Candy Capital, where he managed technology investments. According to his LinkedIn profile, Benattar will focus on digital finance and private market investments in his new role.

Marshall Wace’s plans for digital assets have been ongoing since the day he announced his interest in buying shares in crypto companies.

The company announced last year that it is considering investing in industries such as stablecoins, payment systems for digital currencies, and blockchain.

Marshall Wace has already invested in Circle, the issuer of the USDC stablecoin. The company participated in Circle’s $440 million fundraising round, which closed in May of last year.
