MetaMask Users Are Targeted by Scammers

Issued with the Privacy Policy update MetaMaskrevealed an open space for scammers.

MetaMask found itself in hot water after the latest Privacy Policy update. He informed users that their IPs and Ethereum (ETH) addresses can be transferred to Infura, an RPC provider of MetaMask. This also sparked controversy. While crypto Twitter was discussing the latest update to the MetaMask privacy policy, scammers took the trending MetaMask users on their radar.

MetaMask Scams Imitate Support Team

MetaMaskWhile it was brought to the agenda due to its privacy policy, scammers began to impersonate the support department.

Fake accounts invite crypto users to report problems with their MetaMask wallets to an email address. It promotes addresses that allegedly help with recovering money from MetaMask, changing transactions, and so on. All promoted addresses are hosted on a popular free email service that has nothing to do with the largest Ethereum (ETH) wallet MetaMask.

MetaMask reiterated that its officers will never contact users first. Therefore, all announcements from such accounts should be viewed as blatant scams and should be ignored. It should also be reported to the postal service or social media management.
