KvarnPortugal Fund: A New Pathway to Investment and Residency
A groundbreaking investment opportunity, the KvarnPortugal Fund, has been launched to provide investors with a unique way to gain exposure to the burgeoning cryptocurrency sector, while also offering a potential route to Portuguese residency or citizenship.
This innovative fund is the result of a strategic partnership between Fundbox, a reputable fund management company based in Portugal, and Kvarn X, a prominent European cryptocurrency investment platform. This collaboration aims to bridge the gap between traditional investment strategies and the dynamic world of digital assets.
According to the fund’s official website, the subscription period for the KvarnPortugal Fund is set to close in February 2027. The fund features a modest 0.05% management fee and a one-time 2.5% subscription fee. Additionally, investors will incur a €1,250 (approximately $1,289) know-your-customer (KYC) fee, which is standard practice in the investment industry.
The profit-sharing model of the fund is structured as an 80/20 split, where 80% of the profits are allocated to investors. For those who are not interested in obtaining Portuguese residency, the minimum investment amount is set at €100,000.
The KvarnPortugal Fund plans to allocate a substantial 80% of its portfolio to bitcoin (BTC), while the remaining 20% will be invested in the CoinDesk 20 Index. This index provides investors with exposure to a diverse array of large-cap cryptocurrencies, ensuring a well-rounded investment strategy.
According to Alan Campbell, president of CoinDesk Indices, the KvarnPortugal Fund aims to align “financial opportunity with real-world utility” by incorporating the CoinDesk 20 Index into a fund that facilitates residency-by-investment. He emphasized that the CoinDesk 20 Index is “designed to serve as the industry’s most liquid benchmark,” making it a strategic choice for investors.
For those looking to leverage the fund to gain residency in Portugal through the country’s Golden Visa program, a minimum investment of €500,000 is required. Additionally, investors must spend at least 35 days in Portugal over a span of five years. To qualify for residency, the investment must be executed through a Portuguese bank account, as specified on the fund’s website.
