Paribu, Turkey’s leading technology company and leading cryptocurrency transaction platform, discussed the concept of volunteering by organizing a meeting on December 5, World Volunteers Day, with its stakeholders, with whom it works in the field of social responsibility, and Paribu Volunteers, who operate within the scope of in-house volunteering.
The meeting, which took place in Paribu’s office, started with Yasin Oral’s speech in which he explained Paribu’s volunteerism and perspective. At the meeting moderated by Jülide Erdoğan, the speakers talked about their career journeys and then shared their experiences and opinions on the concept of volunteering.
What is volunteering and why is it important? How is benefit to society produced? What is the purpose of individuals, groups and institutions that carry out volunteer-based work? The conversation around questions such as these enabled the participants to become more familiar with this concept.
Taking action to save the world
İbrahim Betil, one of the leading figures in the civil society and education volunteer movement, stated that it is important for institutions to engage in social responsibility activities for both society and employees, and also stated that this is motivating. He stated that large institutions should lead field studies and projects beyond making donations.
Evren Aydoğan talked about how he decided to operate in this field and the value of producing benefits, even though it can be tiring at times, and how it feels. He stated that new opportunities can develop after devastating events, citing the “Team Paribu with You Disaster Area Sports Fields” project, carried out in cooperation with Team Paribu and Needs Map, as an example.
Melisa Akkuş, a young volunteer, said, “We will save the world,” and emphasized the importance of taking action, no matter how small or big. Baha Müderrisoğlu, on the other hand, shared the feelings of making young people happy while mentioning that the impact of the movement he started with faith reached dimensions he could not have predicted.
Paribu Legal Consultant Ceren Oğuz, who is among the Paribu Volunteers, stated that she was honored to be a Paribu Volunteer and evaluated this formation as a reflection of Paribu’s forward-thinking. Expressing that he was excited to be a part of it and contribute to it, he suggested and invited all his colleagues to experience it.
