Professional basketball player Jimmy Butler has sought expulsion from the lawsuit by Binance for alleged involvement in the promotion of unregistered securities.

Calls from lawyers to Binance and celebrities
The basketball star’s lawyers claimed that he did not mention any alleged securities, but instead warned about celebrities promoting crypto investments. They claimed that Butler’s tweets did not suggest any investment and instead helped out with celebrity crypto endorsements. Additionally, they urged potential Binance clients to do their own research on crypto investments.

In 2022, Binance signed with Butler, the All-Star of the National Basketball Association Miami Heat, to promote the change on the way to that year’s Super Bowl. It was first featured on February 2, 2022 in a video from Binance promoting a free collection of nonfungible tokens (NFTs). Butler tweeted two more videos later that month on February 7 and February 13.
