President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the “Blockchain Istanbul” event organized by AK Party Information and Communication Technologies.
According to Erdogan, traces of digital transformation are increasing in Turkey. Erdogan stated that issues such as the development of the internet infrastructure, the production of the country’s own satellites, the launch of the space program and the dissemination of electronic government applications should be addressed.
President Erdoğan: “Our Goal Is To Reach The Followed Position”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan started his speech by saying that technology is an area that has progressed very rapidly in the last century and has accelerated even more recently.
Erdogan stated that cryptocurrencies made blockchain technology popular with the public. At the same time, he said, blockchain technologies have the potential to radically change the current business system.
Thinking that digital assets are the fuel of technology and blockchain technology is the tool, Erdoğan explained what Turkey wants to do in the future as follows:
“Fast, efficient, secure and low-cost transaction capability. It is clear that we cannot ignore such a potential, we want to be a country that uses these technologies. Our goal is to reach the followed position, not the follower.”
