Vivek Ramaswamy Is Hot To Bitcoin
Vivek Ramaswamy became the second candidate to officially accept Bitcoin for the 2024 presidential election in the United States. Ramaswamy announced that he was accepting Bitcoin donations for his campaign and called for “give $1”. “Let’s make the 2024 election a referendum on fiat currency,” Ramaswamy said, taking the stage at an event in Miami, Florida in 2023.
While Ramaswamy was on stage, users were shown a QR code that offered various payment options for donations, including BTC and Bitcoin’s smallest unit, satoshis. US citizens and eligible permanent residents will be able to donate up to $6,600 to the campaign. To the donors, the donation page had the phrase “After donating, come back to claim your NFT”.
In February, lawmakers in the Kansas House of Representatives introduced a bill proposing a $100 cap when it comes to crypto political donations. For donations under $100, the recipient must “convert to US dollars” the crypto immediately, not use the crypto instead of spending it, and not hold the funds.
