Producer Inflation Dropped Below Consumer Inflation For The First Time Since 2020!

TurkStat published the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Producer Price Index (PPI) data for July. According to the published data, producer inflation, which was higher than consumer inflation for a long time, fell below the CPI.

In the high inflation period of 2022, the gap between the two inflation calculations, which had a difference of almost 5000 basis points for a period, had been gradually closing since October 2022. According to the latest data, this gap has completely closed and the CPI has exceeded the PPI inflation. In the periods when the difference is high in favor of the PPI, especially the producers frequently express that they cannot fully reflect the prices to the consumers, in the light of the latest published data, price increases are more easily reflected to the consumers than before.
