BitPay and Vueling have partnered to make cryptocurrencies acceptable for purchasing airfare, including cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, SHIB, and DOGE, according to the official press release released by Universal Air Travel Plan (UATP) on June 16.
The crypto payment app continues the trend of recent months as more and more companies expand the possibilities to get paid for their goods and services using crypto. A subsidiary of the major international airline holding company International Airlines Group and Spain’s second largest airline, Vueling carries more than 30 million passengers a year and operates in 122 destinations worldwide. With these figures, the company can be considered a solid addition to the ranks of digital currency buyers.
Another key participant in the deal was the UATP company, whose technology is widely used in the aviation industry. While ticket prices will be displayed in fiat, customers will be able to pay via push transactions using a wide variety of crypto wallets. Cryptocurrencies that can be paid include SHIB, DOGE, BTC and other popular coins.
Another important event here is that BitPay is slowly becoming the main driver of crypto adoption trend among companies.
