Solar-Powered Bitcoin Mining Facility Opened in Australia

Operated by Lumos Digital Mining, the facility provides about five megawatts of electricity from solar power in an effort to reduce Bitcoin’s carbon footprint, ABC News Australia reports.

Recently, blockchain mining consumes a lot of energy has become a hotly debated topic around the world. Starting to work on the solution of the global warming problem all over the world has paved the way for blockchain mining to switch to zero carbon applications in this field. In this context, the fact that Lumos Digital Mining in Australia started to use solar energy in its facility attracted a lot of attention.

Angelo Kondylas, an official from Lumos Digital Mining, stated that the center has the potential to issue at least 100 Bitcoins per year, but the amount depends on how much power can be used.

It was also said that if there was a need to increase production, the company could draw power from the mains at some point. Located in the industrial city of Whyalla, the company also plans to guide other organizations that want to harness solar energy to get involved in Bitcoin mining.
